Book your placeOur week long DJ Techniques summer school is perfect for complete beginners with little to no experience of DJing. Taught by pro DJ, Chengy, you’ll learn the essentials of DJing, developing your techniques and building your confidence behind the decks.
Each day you’ll get hands-on experience in our DJ booths, building your knowledge of DJ equipment and its essential components. You’ll get to grips with professional hardware, learning the basic set-up procedures for turntables, mixers and headphones.
Once set-up is complete you’ll gain fundamental knowledge of beatmatching to synchronize tracks smoothly, and develop basic DJ skills in cueing and crossfading for seamless transitions between songs. All while familiarising yourself with basic music structure, tempo and beat counting.
Spaces are limited on our DJ Techniques summers school, to make sure you get plenty of 1-2-1 time with our expert tutor and use of our state-of-the-art facilities.

On the first day you’ll be introduced to a professional DJ set-up and essential hardware components; turntables, CDJs, and mixers.
On day 2 you’ll learn different DJ techniques such as; transitioning, phasing, corrections and synchronising and put it into practice during a workshop.
On day 3 you’ll continuing with DJ techniques using the Serato DVS sysmtem, and also learn basic music theory.
On day you’ll cover a variety of mixing techniques including; cueing, pitching, looping and using manual-auto.
On the final day you’ll look at a range of creative techniques such as; scratching, key mixing, looping and acapellas.
Teaching takes place in a variety of formats including informal, hands-on workshops and interactive demonstrations. Our aim throughout is to encourage your creative exploration and hone your technical skills.
Applicants must be at least 15 years of age, have good spoken/written English and basic IT skills. If you’re aged between 15 and 18, we may need to contact you before we can confirm your place on the course.
Early bird fees are available for applications received by 30 April.
