Chloe Jones in the Live Venue at Spirit Studios

What were you doing before you came to Spirit Studios?

I have spent eight years specialising in teaching vocals and music performance at degree level in Manchester.

Alongside education I perform primarily as a solo acoustic artist, while also working in function bands.

I also work as a session singer, performing both live and in the studio, and have collaborated with a variety of artists writing and arranging music. I regularly perform at weddings, events, and other live venues.

How did you get into what you teach?

I graduated with a Professional Musicianship degree in Vocals.

I began teaching at my university shortly afterwards. I initially worked as a teaching assistant before progressing to complete a PGCert in Teaching and Learning, which further developed my approach as an educator.

Any areas of special interest?

I specialise in vocals, music arrangement, and performance. I have a particular passion for arranging harmonies and developing backing vocal parts.

What’s your proudest career achievement?

Two standout moments in my career include being a contestant on The Voice in 2018.

I was part of Sir Tom Jones’ team, and performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London, an incredible venue with a rich musical history.

On a daily basis, however, I take the most pride in helping students grow, achieve their goals, and develop their craft. Being able to work in music full time is something I’m especially grateful for.

What do you get up to outside of teaching?

Outside of teaching, I enjoy food and baking, pilates, long walks, and spending time by the sea.

Tell us something people may not know about you?

I make a very good tiramisu!

Any notable people you may have worked with?

Sir Tom Jones and Matt Corby

What’s your favourite album/artist? and why?

Some of my favourite albums growing up were Purple Rain by Prince, I Speak Because I Can, Once I Was an Eagle by Laura Marling, and Grace by Jeff Buckley. I can clearly remember the first time I heard each of them and have influenced me in some way.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?

Laura Marling – Albert Hall in Manchester

What’s your musical guilty pleasure?

Singing Disney songs in the car if I am driving on a long journey and need a boost!
