Mastering Studio.

Fitted with PMC monitoring, a mastering-grade Prism Sound audio interface and audio processors from the likes of Avalon and Manley, our Mastering Studio will help you get your final mix ready for commercial distribution.

Mastering is the final stage of audio production and its purpose is to prepare a final mix for distribution. Dynamic processors and equalisation, amongst other tools, are used to create a well-presented sound that is optimised for playback via different distribution formats, such as streaming services, vinyl, digital download (MP3, FLAC, AIFF etc.) and radio broadcast. The process also ensures the material will sound great on all devices: from a small mono speaker on your mobile phone to the largest club and festival sound systems.

Our Mastering Studio is one of our advanced studios and, as the name suggests, has the equipment to fulfil this final stage. Critical listening is paramount here and therefore having accurate monitoring, such as our PMCs, is an absolute must. We’ve also installed a Prism Sound Lyra 2 audio interface that offers some of the best analogue-to digital and digital-to-analogue converters available. Through the dedicated monitor controller, you can select between our PMC and Dynaudio monitoring, engage the subwoofer and utilise various mix-checking facilities, such as left/right cut, phase reverse and mono.

Add to the above a range of hardware compressors, limiters and EQs from the likes of Avalon, Manley and Amek, as well as software mastering tools from Steinberg, iZotope and Waves, and you really do have everything you need.

Whilst this studio has a primary focus on mastering, it is multi-purpose. Microphone and foldback tie lines are available to the live room next door to facilitate any recording. There’s a range of legendary mic preamps at your disposal too, including Neve 1073, Amek 9098 and Avalon. The room also caters for mixing projects, with its precise monitoring, racks of outboard and software plug-ins. We’ve even normalled most of the outboard processors to the Pro Tools HDX audio interface, so you can quickly utilise them in your mixes without the need to patch them in.

Finally, we’ve also installed a 2″ 24-track tape machine, CD and Cassette recorders to facilitate any transfer or digitisation tasks.

Other advanced-level studios include Spirit Studio and S6 Suite.
