What were you doing before you came to Spirit Studios?
I’ve been a Music Production lecturer for around 5 years, teaching at various institutions. Apart from that I’ve been a gigging musician for around 16 years now. I’ve been all over the UK and Europe doing that! I’ve also worked as a freelance music producer in loads of different studios in Manchester, and I’ve got to work with artists such as Ray Lewis and Hard Eye Contact. I also have been regularly working with Fresh Britain on branding adverts for numerous companies.
How did you get into Music production?
Around the age of 13 I started gigging and playing in bands and we always needed to have recordings available but never had the money to produce them. When I got to my GCSEs, I had to record my projects on a BOSS BR-864 and discovered my love of multi-track recording and mixing practices that has been growing ever since!

What do you get up to outside of teaching?
Freelance Recording/ Mixing projects. Mainly working with local singer/ songwriters and occasionally writing my own material.
What’s your favourite album/artist?
The greatest song of all time is Country Roads by John Denver. This undeniable truth requires no justification.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Green Day at the Bullet in a Bible gig was outstanding but Foo Fighters in Hyde Park supported by Queens of the Stone Age, Motorhead, Angels and Airwaves and Juliette and the Licks was incredible. This could all change in September 2022 as I have tickets to see Garth Brooks in Croke Park…
What’s your musical guilty pleasure?
I wouldn’t say I feel particularly guilty about any of it but I can happily listen to Country music for the rest of my life.
Tell us something people may not know about you?
I am obsessed with Harry Potter and the Wizarding world.
