Created in collaboration with our Electronic Music Production and Performance Programme Leader, Dan, the series provides a free community sharing platform for Manchester creatives and music enthusiasts. Each event finds a new way to ‘explore music at the intersection of the personal and the technological’.
“It’s been brilliant working with Brighter Sound on programming and developing sessions for the Secret Technology series. There can be so many challenges involved with developing and sharing creative work. With so many talented artists working in the city, spaces that offer the opportunity to learn and grow together are becoming more important than ever.”Dan Valentine, Electronic Music Production and Performance Programme Leader
Performance in practice with Iceboy Violet and Rainy Miller
Following the first event in the series – Improvisations with Eiliyas – the group will now be joined by ‘the North West’s most ferocious cross-genre artists; Iceboy violet and Rainy Miller.’
Iceboy Violet is a Manchester-based producer, vocalist and DJ whose sound combines brooding electronics with raw, vulnerable lyrics. Inspired by the energy and resistance of Grime, they warp genres in order to erode traditional boundaries. Joined by Rainy Miller – a northern neo-R&B artist whose music seeks both ‘inspiration and liberation’ from his personal experiences – the pair will be discussing their performance styles and the technology of expression.
If you’d like to join in the discussion, head to Eastern Bloc Records at 7pm on Tuesday, 25 October. As always, the event is free to attend. Simply register your interest via the Brighter Sound website.
