Live Sound.
By the end of this free taster course, you will have experience of running a small show and have unlocked core skills for starting your journey as a live sound engineer.
Overview
Taught in our fully equipped live venue, this Live Sound taster session is for anyone aged 14-18 with an interest in the workings of a live show from behind the scenes. You’ll get hands-on with industry standard equipment with the support from our expert tutors.
This session is designed to introduce you to microphones, stage management, monitor mixing and FOH (Front of House) mixing using digital mixing consoles. Throughout the session you’ll work with an artist and set up for a small gig from start to finish. The session will cover:
- Introduction to live sound
- Roles within live sound
- Introduction to microphones
- Introduction to digital mixing consoles (Allen & Heath SQ6)
- Signal path and multi-track audio demonstration
- Channel List
- Stage setup and patching
- Front of House (FOH) and monitor mixing

- Hours of study: 10am - 3pm. Next date TBC.
