We offer FREE Audio Engineering / Music Production workshops primarily to Sixth Forms & Colleges (but also to year 10 & 11) offering insights to the creative  and technical side of the music and audio industry.

These workshops will give your students the opportunity to see our professional facilities, discover what degree courses we offer and explore different career paths.

Facilitated by our expert tutors, our hands-on practical workshops can be tailored to your students’ needs, and can take place wherever is most convenient for you – either onsite at Spirit Studios, virtually via Zoom using camera technology, or our tutors can also come to you! 

Suggested workshops include:

Drum Recording & Production:
Learn how to mic up, tune, overdub and record a full drum kit. From acoustics and tonal changes to recording and mixing techniques, this workshop will provide the students with the skills and knowledge to perfect drums ready to record into a track.

Studio Practice & Composition:
An introduction to the creative processes behind capturing and composing sounds. From understanding microphones and tracking instruments to found sounds and creative composition, the students will learn the basic fundamentals of studio production and the skills required to compose music within a studio environment.

Ableton Music Production:
Develop the technical and creative skills required to produce samples, audio and music from scratch. From critical listening and arrangement to mixing and production, the students will learn the essential processes behind creating a track using Ableton Live.

Electronic Music Production:
Learn the fundamentals of electronic music production. With access to their own workstation, students will have access to industry standard software, plugins and hardware from Apple, Ableton, Steinberg and Native Instruments.

Live Sound Engineering:
Learn the fundamentals of live sound and the roles associated with live sound engineering. Students will have the opportunity to get hands-on with both analogue and digital consoles and will work towards a gig at the end of the day.
