After being nominated for the B-Side Project ‘Remix Awards’, Kacper Kurczynski – who produces under the name KASPA. has been named the UK Music Student Remix Competition Winner 2019.
Gathering students from all across the UK, the awards night was a great opportunity for aspiring producers to get together and network.
Starting the night off with a panel of industry experts, all aspects of the remix process, from copyright and topline to originality and sampling were discussed.
Prior to the main award, other awards were also presented, including ‘Best Innovative Remix’, ‘Most Imaginative Remix’ and ‘Best Remix Arrangement’.
Taking home the award for ‘Best Remix’, Etherwood described KASPA’s unique manipulation of his track, A Hundred Oceans, as ‘stand-out’.
Along with winning the award, KASPA. walked away with a SADiE Mastering Suite, Genelec 8030 Monitor Speakers, ACS moulded ear plugs, and a feature in Sound on Sound magazine. But, the biggest prize of the night, KASPA was also given time to work in the studio with Etherwood, himself.
In addition to this, we will also be receiving a range of gear from the competition sponsors to kit out our studios, including a Prism Sound Lyra 2 Interface, SADiE Mastering Suite, Genelec 8331 Monitor Speakers, various Audient equipment and software packages.
All in all, the UK Music Student Remix Competition, in partnership with Hospital Records and Med School Music, was a successful night for many young producers, and a great experience for everyone involved.
Congratulations to all our students who took part in the competition, and all of the other winners.
