Tips for attending an open day.

20 October, 2023

Attending one of our open days is the perfect way to get a feel for what life will be like as a student with us. Our next open day is taking place on Saturday 28, October.

To ensure you make the most of the experience, here’s our top tips to keep in mind when attending one of our open days. Book your place here.

1. Take a tour of our facilities

You can take a guided tour of our studios to see for yourself exactly where you’ll be studying during your time at Spirit. You’ll get to hear more about our history, see just how expansive our equipment collection is and visit the range of recording studios and production facilities that will be at your disposal as a student.

2. Meet your future tutors

This is the best way to find out more about what you’ll be studying and to see just how passionate our tutors are. Forging a connection with teaching staff as early as possible will give you a head start not only in the application process, but will have a real impact on your future studies as well.

3. Speak to current students

If you want to get a feel for what student life is really like, talking to current students is the best course of action. There will be students dotted around the studios who are on hand to answer any questions you may have.

4. Take a walk into town

Exploring Manchester is a must – especially if you’re travelling from a little further afield to visit us. There’s so much more to student life than just being in the studios. So, once the open day has come to a close, make sure you take a walk into the city centre to visit some of the venues, record stores and iconic landmarks you’ll soon be calling home.

5. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and have a go using our equipment

Open days are all about you. We’re here to answer your questions and help you make an informed decision about choosing to study with us. You can attend a talk or speak to staff in your own time to get support with the UCAS process, student finance, welfare and anything in between.

6. Attend more than one subject talk

Our open days are designed to get you thinking about your dream role within the industry. Therefore we strongly encourage you to keep an open mind and attend multiple subject talks while you’re here. This is your chance to explore every avenue possible. You never know what might get you inspired. Our subject areas include:

7. Bring someone with you

While the day should be all about you (this is your decision to make after all!), having someone with you will help you relax and remind you of the all-important questions. Parents, guardians, friends and relatives are always welcome – and we often find they enjoy the experience just as much as prospective students.

8. Follow us on Instagram

We’ll be keeping our followers updated throughout the day, ensuring you don’t miss a thing. As always this is also a great way to reach out to us if you have any questions. Say hi with #wearespiritstudios.

9. Enjoy yourself!

We know choosing the right course can be a daunting task, so our open days are designed to be good fun. Enjoy yourself, make the most of your experience, have a go on our equipment and explore the city.
