On Friday 24 May, the Courteeners came into our studios for a production rehearsal, ahead of the ‘Raise the Roof’ benefit gig at Victoria Warehouse in aid of the Mayor’s Homeless Fund.
Headlining the gig, the Courteeners played alongside some of Manchester’s most notable names, including Blossoms, Bugzy Malone, DJ Sunta Templeton and punk-poet, Dr. John Cooper Clarke.
A chance to iron out any creases, the production rehearsal proved to be a success not only for the Courteeners, but for our students, too.
From cabling XLR’s and PA systems, to placing mics and setting up equipment, students helped to set-up and prepare our Charlie Jones Live Venue for the rehearsal alongside Production Manager, Chris Snow.
Eager to get to grips with the large-scale production, it was a great opportunity for the students to ask questions, roll up their sleeves and really get involved. In addition to playing tracks from their well-known debut album, St Jude, the Courteeners ran through a list of their newest numbers, too.
With a busy schedule ahead of them, the Courteeners are also set to headline Tramlines and Kendal Calling, as well as playing Isle of Wight festival and Heaton Park.
Far from strangers, producer and bassist, Joe Cross, came into our studios a few months ago with Satyr Play to record their new single, Bang Average. Both of these events have been a great experience for everyone involved, and we hope to work with Joe, the Courteeners, and their production team even more in the future.
