ICON Studio.
Fitted with an Avid D-Control ES control surface, a range of high-end preamps and with a connected live room, the ICON Studio is popular for recording, mixing and mastering projects.
As one of our advanced studios, you will have access to this incredibly versatile facility in the latter stages of your course. Centred around an Avid ICON D-Control ES control surface, many of which are found in audio post production facilities, our ICON Studio offers complete tactile control of Pro Tools.
With stereo PMC monitors, a Dynaudio 5.1 surround sound system and a HD projector, the ICON Studio is used for both music and audio post production projects.
As no audio passes through a control surface, unlike an analogue mixing console, we’ve filled our outboard racks with mic-preamps full of personality. Neve 1073, Amek 9098 and Avalon units will add stunning colour and warmth to your projects at the recording stage. Once you’ve started the mix, you can then take advantage of the control surface, Pro Tools HDX processing power and the huge array of plug-ins available to you. Not to mention the boutique Manley and Avalon equalisers and compressors we have in out outboard racks for you to patch in.
Your Pro Tools session will save the settings of the control surface so you can come back and finish the mix another day without having to make a note of all settings manually. It’s this efficiency that is so important in audio post production environments, and why our ICON Studio remains so popular with students and tutors.
